Additional Information

Referred to as a "Birthing Blanket," the weaver incorporated a number of pictorial elements related to fertility including a Thunderbird woman, half a man, Changing Woman, a rooster, horse, and a mountain lion; a man and woman prior to pregnancy and, at the bottom left a pregnant woman and post childbirth at the bottom right. It is believed that the use of the coral colored yarns was deliberate as it is a sign of fertility.

The blanket is very soft and was most likely woven between 1880 & 1895.
