We are honored to have been selected by Eric Bransby to host a retrospective of his work. The artist is celebrating his 98th birthday this Autumn the exhibtion will focus on his life's work - an accomplished career which has spanned almost 75 years.
Bransby chose to retain the majority of his works including paintings, drawings and large-scale cartoons/studies for his murals. He has been honored with numerous exhibitions and one-man shows including those held at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Georgia Art Museum, Indiana State University and the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art. However, this is the only retrospective exhibition in Denver and also the first time that collectors will have the opportunity to purchase these phenomenal works.
To illustrate the forces which shaped Bransby's career and formidable talent, the show will include the artist's mentors and peers with carefully selected works by Thomas Hart Benton, Boardman Robinson, Mary Ann Bransby, Jean Charlot, Herbert Bayer, Jose Clement Orozco, Josef Albers and more.
"Eric provides an inspiring living connection with the great masters of the past. Yet Bransby has also studied with modern masters such as Josef Albers. Indeed, with its abstraction of shapes and fracturing form, Bransby's art is not simply a hold-over from some musty, half-forgotten period. His is very much an art of the modern age, designed to challenge the awareness of modern people and to expand the horizons of the modern experience." - Henry Adams Eric Bransby and the American Mural Tradition, 2001
