Francis Horne was born in Mt. Vernon, Washington and currently resides in British Columbia. He started carving in 1973, he considers himself to be primarily self-taught and also studied with Simon Charlie, a prominent Chief and accomplished Salish artist. Horne has produced numerous major totem poles and smaller wood sculptures for public, corporate and private international commissions. The city of Duncan, known as the "City of Totem Poles," has five of his totem poles. His work is renowned for its elaborate detail and precise incisions.
