Northeastern Woodlands-IA

The Northeast Culture Area, also referred to as Woodlands or Great Lakes, includes the area surrounding the Great Lakes and down to part of present-day Tennessee and extends East to the Atlantic Seaboard with the Tidewater area of Virginia marking the southern boundaries. Tribes in this area include Abenaki, Algonkin, Chippewa (Ojibway), Chowanoc, Conoy, Coree, Delaware (Lenni Lenape), Fox (Mesquaki), Hatteras, Illinois, Kickapoo, Machapunga, and Mahican.
