Francis Hoar, a native of Philadelphia, studied at the Pennsylvania Museum School of Industrial Art. In 1927, she married Frederick Trusksess and the couple relocated to Boulder, Colorado. In Boulder, Francis taught at the University of Colorado. She was a founding member of the Boulder Artists Guild and a member of a 5 woman artist group known as The Prospectors with whom she exhibited between 1931-1939. She also exhibited at the Denver Art Museum where she earned multiple prizes. She later relocated to Paradise, California.
