Marcel Ronay was born in Budapest, Hungary to a Roman Catholic mother and a a Jewish Romanian father. During his childhood he lived in Berlin, Germany and Vienna, Austria where he studied under Eugene Steinhof at the Kuntsgewerbeschule. He then traveled and showed his work in Italy before settling in England where he opened Ronay Studios in 1936. In addition to his paintings and sculpture, Ronay also worked in the family business designing and painting porcelain jewelry.
