Born in Brussels, Belgium, Georges Schreiber studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Germany as well as a number of other schools throughout Europe. He immigrated to the United States in 1928, settling permanently in New York. During the 1930s he found employment with the Works Project Administration (WPA). During this period, he traveled extensively, visiting all 48 states in 1939, finding inspiration for his American scene compositions.
Exhibited: Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Art Institute of Chicago,Carnegie Institute, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum.
