Beaded Hide Doll, circa 1890
Formed out of native tanned hide and likely stuffed with grass, the doll is a replica of a Sioux warrior and the clothing and accessories denote that this was made by and for a member of the SIoux tribe. The doll is meticulously rendered with a war shirt and leggings, breastplate, beaded moccasins and a tiny replica of a tobacco bag.
Custom display stand is included. The doll alone measures 13 ½ inches, height x 5 ½ inches, width x 2 inches, depth. With the Stand the height is increased to 13 ¾ inches.
