Richly illustrated throughout, the catalog documents the evolution of Navajo pictorial weaving during the twentieth century, when artists began depicting animals, people, landscapes, buildings, transportation, historic events, and other representational subjects alongside traditional design elements. These weavings demonstrate the creativity and adaptability of Navajo artists as they responded to changing cultural influences while maintaining the technical excellence and artistic integrity of Navajo textile traditions.
