About the Artist
Born in Illinois in 1853, Harriet Freeman Wright (Harriet Freeman, Harriet F Wright) was raised in Iowa. She is referred to as "Miss Harriet Freeman, the artist" in the Independence, Iowa Bulletin-journal in 1878. She married Frank H. Wright in Chicago in 1882. The couple moved to Denver where Harriet is listed in public records with the occupation of "artist". She divorced Frank in 1897 and is listed in the Manitou Business Directory under artist with a studio on Canon Avenue. Harriet Freeman Wright is known for her early landscape paintings of Colorado.
