Composition depicts a logarithmic spiral, a curve that mathematicians have marveled at since the 16th century due to its unique geometric properties. Artist Biography - Chase Varney (1890-1980)
Edward Chase Varney was born in Minnesota in 1890. He attended Macalester College in Saint Paul, MN. In 1936, Chase Varney was one of 44 charter professional members of the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center (originally the Broadmoor Art Academy). He was based out of Pueblo Colorado and continued to be active in the arts community of Colorado Springs and Pueblo until his death in 1980.
