Pair of antique beaded moccasins, Salish, circa 1880. Attributed to the Salish peoples (Flathead) from the Plateau region of the United States. Constructed of native tanned buckskin (deer hide) and embroidered. Design consists of a series of heart and foliate motifs in red, pink, white, green and purple.
The Plateau region consists of present day Oregon, Washington, British Columbia (Canada), Idaho and Montana.
